Benchmarking
The single biggest reason to get KTC X Bangkok Airways is to earn points and eventually convert them all to Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus points. From offering lucrative earn rates for general spending to preferential conversion, this card is by far the best way to get flights from Bangkok Airways. The downside? Well, you’re really restricted to flying domestically or within the region with Bangkok Airways.

Earn Mechanism - Miles
As the name suggests, the KTC X Bangkok Airways lets you earn points that are only usable for the Bangkok Airways FlyerBonus frequent flyer program. Note, that you are still technically earning “KTC points” but points earned on this card will only be applicable for the ROP program and will be entitled to special rates where applicable. In other words, they are different from KTC Forever points earned with house cards. While this card is the sure-fire way to earn a free flight with Bangkok Airways, chances are, you’ll be restricted to domestic and regional flights. On top of that, you’ll likely be restricted to economy cabins as Bangkok Airways has a relatively limited premium cabin offering, not to mention that they aren’t exactly turning heads either.
As with an airline co-branded card, the upside is that the miles earn rates are very good:
- Base Earning Rate: 1 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
- Bangkok Airways Spending Bonus: 4 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
- Travel Spending Bonus: 3 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
- Shopping Spending Bonus: 3 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
- Dining Spending Bonus: 3 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
- Foreign Spending Bonus: 3 KTC point for every 25 baht spend
It is important to note that you will only earn 3 KTC points for every 25 baht (3x points) spent when you have spent a total of 600,000 baht each year. In the event that you do not meet this requirement, or for remaining values (e.g., any amount between 600,000 and 1,200,000) you will only earn 2 KTC points for every 25 baht (2x points). In the case of spending with Bangkok Airways, this would mean that you will only earn 4 KTC points for every 25 baht (4x points) spent within this 600,000 baht block system as well. For all remaining value short of the 600,000 baht block, you will only earn 3 points for every 25 baht spend.
You can see how this earn mechanism works in the examples below (annual spending):
Scenario 1 | Spend: 600K baht on Thai Airways & Marriott Points earned: 72,000 points |
Scenario 2 | Spend: 600K baht on Bangkok Airways Points earned: 96,000 points |
Scenario 3 | Spend: 300K baht at Lotus’s and 300K on dining Points earned: 48,000 points |
Scenario 4 | Spend: 700K baht in GBP at Harrods Points earned: 80,000 points |
There is no general cap on bonus points you can earn with KTC X Bangkok Airways.
Getting Cashback
With the KTC X Bangkok Airways, you cannot convert your earned points into cashback.
Spending Overseas
Rate | Outcome | |
FX Fee | 2% + 1% | 1,000 baht |
UOB Points | 15 baht per mile (as opposed to 20 baht) | Additional 500 miles |
Lounge Access
KTC X Bangkok Airways does give you lounge perks. When you are flying with Bangkok Airways, you will be entitled to use the Blue Ribbon Club Lounge at Samui Airport. To be honest this perk is pretty rubbish for two reasons. Firstly, limiting lounge access to just Samui means that unless you live there, this perk will be used at most once or twice a year. More importantly, however, is the fact that Bangkok Airways prides themselves in offering all passengers with a lounge of some sort. While not as flashy as their Blue Ribbon product, it really does make this perk somewhat mediocre at best.
Lounge Provider | Bangkok Airways Blue Ribbon Lounge |
Usage Quota | 4 times per year |
Coverage | Samui Airport |
Now, the next question may be “what lounges can I use in Bangkok”? For that, we’ve compiled a list of lounges available for Dragon Pass holders at Suvarnabhumi Airport:
Miracle Lounge | International: Concourse A/C/D/F/G/SAT-1 Domestic: Concourse A |
Coral Lounge | International: Concourse C/D Domestic: Concourse A |
In addition to the typical miles earned and perks one can expect from a credit card, co-branded cards also provide exclusive perks from the co-branded partner: Bangkok Airways. These include:
- Redemption Discounts: Get 15% discount when using FlyerBonus points to redeem Bangkok Airways flights (check terms and conditions)
- In-flight Discounts: Get 10% discount on in-flight shopping purchases onboard Bangkok Airways flights
- Baggage Allowance: Get up to 10kg additional baggage allowance when flying with Bangkok Airways
